Category Page Optimization

Category and collection pages rank for the wide, high-intent searches your product pages never will, and most stores leave them as a bare grid of products with no copy at all. Category page optimization scores each one, works out the keywords it should own, and writes the content that makes it rank. It is not live yet.

They rank for the broad searches made by people who have not picked a product yet. Those shoppers are further from the buy than someone searching a model number, but there are far more of them, and most stores hand that traffic to competitors by leaving the page as a bare product grid.

The products in the collection, whether the page can be indexed, the content already on it, real search demand for the terms it targets, and where you currently rank. It also looks for your own collections competing with each other over the same term.

A score for the page and the content to fix it: the heading, the meta title and description, an intro that reads like a person wrote it, supporting sections, and the questions shoppers actually ask about that category.

Shopify collections first, because that is where most of our brands are. Wider platform support follows after the first version is proven.

Product page builder and SEO keyword tracking are both live. Between them you can rebuild the pages that convert and watch what the whole store ranks for while category pages are being built.

It is the page listing everything in one part of your catalog, called a collection page on Shopify. It is what a shopper lands on when they search for the category rather than a specific product, which makes it the widest door into your store.

Make sure it can be indexed at all, give it a heading and a meta description written for the term it should own, add real copy above or below the grid instead of leaving a bare product wall, answer the questions shoppers ask about the category, and make sure two of your own collections are not fighting over the same keyword.

Yes, as long as it earns its place. A page with nothing but a product grid gives a search engine almost nothing to rank and gives a shopper nothing to decide with. Copy that explains how to choose within the category does both jobs at once.
